Tabitha’s Best Friend Poem by Doug Gunderson

Tabitha’s Best Friend

Tabitha’s best friend is the moon
And I think I know why.
For no matter where she is,
The moon’s always in the sky.
At grandma’s or at momma’s
Or even at my place
She can always find the moon
When she looks into space.
Just that one little constant
In her life filled with change
Gives to her an anchor
To handle all of the strange.
Daddy is always working
And mommy isn’t there,
And they both have other people
With whom their time they share.
One grandma or another,
Mister Mark or grandpa Doug;
She’s not sure where she’s headed
Or where next she’ll be lug.
But the moon remains a constant
Wherever she may be
and she does remind me:
“Grandpa it’s a She! ”
So if you find me outside
Waving hello to the moon
It is for my Tabitha
Who’ll be looking for her soon.
