The lady knelt
Beside Paulo
And put her
Hand over
His knee.
Paulo flinched
Away when
He saw her
Hand glow.
'I know I seem
Strange and scary,
But that doesn't give
You the right to make
Your sister
Cry.'
He felt a tingle
And watched as his
Scraped knee
Begin to heal.
'Who are you to
Tell me what to
Do? '
'My name is Ark.
I can't remember
Much of my past,
But whatever I did
To cause such a
Curse upon myself,
I wish to repay.
Mayhaps me
Helping you can
Be enough to make
You realize
I mean no harm.
The door to the house
Flew open and
Two adults came
Out. 'Paulo, Maria! ? '
'What was that noise! ' they yelled.
Ark looked up.
'And who is that? '
