I began on this journey and i walked on my road
Learning my craft and to carry my load
Since i choose to the work, cos is my duty and call
No matter what the risk, in a crisis great or small
For all my life this is what i wanted to be
Not a doctor or banker, policing was for me
I am a man on blue and this is my fight
As i kiss my family a good night
I take one minutes last and look
Don't sure when we will see again or maybe hook
I put on my uniform and strap on my vest
And hope for the best among the rest
I take one minutes and say one final prayer
All my plead i lay for God to hear
I journey on my shift, much work to be done
Writing reports and citations, chasing a felon with a gun
Making life and death choices everyday
My split second decisions, will be criticized every way
As my family watch me driving away
They bow their head and pray
Oh! Lord, please let daddy come home safe today
This is their prayer in many ways
Until you walk in my shoes and see what i've seen
You can't possibly imagine the stress on my scene
For endless hours, directing traffic
Trying to keep order when there's havoc
Always on the guard for their life
And yet trying to be friendly, a constant strife
No respect for us in blue
For you have no idea of what we go through
Media spread lies all over the news
Saying all officers have a short fuse
Portrayed us as a fool at the picture show
Yes, it's just another blow
Odd hours, little penny pay
The horrors we see tacked away
We protect and serve
Yet some people have the nerve
Animals! They shout, you just go away
But the forget we might save their life just one day
Officers are routinely deal with society worst
I hope this change, before it all lost
