Teener Catastrophe Poem by Mutonye wa Mutuku - B.M the Poet

Teener Catastrophe

Privately,
Everyone is questioning, silently,
Why the increment, haphazardly,
Of teenage pregnancies, a major threat.

Is it cos of peer pressure?
Or lack of knowledge, ignorance?
Is it cos of egocentric pleasure?
Or lack of tolerance?

What of environmental influence?
Uncontrolled pornographic effluence?
Explicit sexual depiction through' internet continuance?
For self-centered affluence?

Are they caused by poverty?
Which most girls refer to as oddity?
So, money must be sought, not through robbery,
But through their bodies, sexually!

Has it ignored all these, the society?
Has it contributed to the pregnancies, the society?
Has it given birth to all these causes, the society?
Can it puppeteer the pregnancies, the society?

Society must take responsibility with agility,
To be a mirror teenagers can learn virtues and versatility,
To follow is teenage awareness,
Through counselling and ignorance pureness.
