Temporary Poem by Nia Schexnider

Temporary

I have a confession,

I have depression.

but I pray it's a temporary thing,

Because of his agression,

and my own repression,

My happiness, ceases to sing.

*

I allowed myself to care,

And (to him) 'that was unfair'.

Keep your heart to yourself,

Because if you dare,

and tell him you care,

He will put you on the shelf.

*

So, try as I may,

I'm depressed today,

He took from me all he could,

And to my dismay,

I say today,

If I could take that time back, I would.
