This is one of he worst poems I've ever read. Its English is terrible, its rhyming is awkward, its story is just plain stupid, there's no cohesion within the story line, and worst of all, its a bigoted piece of. Do we really teach this crap to or children? Even if you change the word Indians to Soldiers, the thing is still junk.
After reading Ten Little Indians, I got the impression that the writer had no intention of rhyming. Not all poems needs to rhyme to be a poem. I believe he simply wanted to complete a classroom assignment before his class started. Been there, done that. My College poem, although never published, was called Red Face. It was very clever, just like Ten Little Indians.
