Terry Guilderoy Poem by Jean Renwick

Terry Guilderoy

They met, they matched
This love had Terry on a cloud
But what a love he’d found –
Terry’s parents were not proud.

So Terry left home to share his love and life with another
And there were many happy times with friends who came around
Oh, what a life he’d found –
Terry was proud.

But came a time, times became too much
When Terry’s lover was not home and he crawled deep underground
Oh, what a love he’d lost –
Terry was no longer proud.

With no risk left, Terry made a call
Then Terry came home with a hope none would speak their thoughts out loud
Oh, what a life he’d lost –
No-one there that day was proud.

Terry battled his demons
Struggled silently and got himself unwound
Oh, what a life he found –
Terry’s parents were proud.

Back with it and into the world
New friends and a lover with whom he could be bound
Oh, what love he found
Terry could be proud.
