Thank May West Poem by Suzanna Chevalier

Thank May West

Now I know May West was a light worker who had to go in
to see how women weren’t clean and had no good sanitation.
Yes, she was arrested for something so benign
just like me but we were asked from the divine.
Asked from the divine to make sure inmates
had a better environment that helped them while doing time.
“You have to go in to help them from the outside”
I said to a friend that very same night.
May West said I will take 10 days in prison
over a $500.00 fine.
So thank May West for she was more than meets the eye.
