Thaw Poem by Charles Malcolm

Thaw

Moribund
with a needle and a volcano
in the edge of my eyes.
Frozen from kissing
the necks and shoulders
of the undead
who leave
and leave me
bloodgutted.

Different evil in the rain
than there was in the wind.

'The cold seeps into your bones
out here, ' they said.

'I'll drink whiskey.
I'll find a woman with a warm mouth,
strong heart, and cold hands, ' I told them,
but they weren't listening,
and the woman who I found
has already left.
