The Absinthe Drinkers Poem by Mary Champion

The Absinthe Drinkers

So dull and dejected it's easy to see
a picture of perfect protracted ennui.
He's tired of her and she's fed up with him.
Relationship rocky- the outlook is grim.

A weary dispirited pair
in need of an int'rest to share.

A bottle of Absinthe has proved it's ideal
to blot out the fact they can no longer feel.
A substitute spirit that fills fitfully
the holes in their souls where their life used to be.
