The Addict (1-2) Poem by Zachary Zuccaro

The Addict (1-2)

The Addict

Nervous quivering,
unsteady shaking
carefully aligning
needle and vein.
The plunge.
The injection.

The addict
obtains
his daily dose
of misery.

The Addict #2

Wandering the streets
alone and forsaken
searching for a few dollars.

A life exchanged
for a few moments
of illusory pleasure
and false joy.
