The Aging Boy From Southern Carolina Poem by Alexander Foald

The Aging Boy From Southern Carolina

Rating: 3.5

You’ve known me well more than anyone
Since we were around twelve something
Like the ocean needs the shore
There’s no other between us

I got your back when you fight against your time
You lifted me up when I was down by the light
I was there to protect your precious pride
You were here standing beside my feet and arm

We were living like king and queen
We stood on the top of the world
We said nothing can separate us
We just didn’t know what kind of world we stood up

And then you’re gone with the folks
Leaving me with the lonesome playground
I tried to seek another adventure
And realize I can’t go against my age

Can you hear me now, my little fella’?
The aging boy from southern Carolina
I still recall the first game we played together
The first time I knew I’ll always remember
