The Angel With Black Wings Poem by Lauren Kapusta

The Angel With Black Wings

At heart, she is an angel.
But the world around her turns her sad.
She would have white wings.
She would be happy.
Her heart would beat contently.
Her wings are black with sadness and loneliness.
All she ever did was to be good to all.
But for reasons unknown, they hated her.
She knows she is meek, but it's no excuse.
Their actions filled her heart with,
Tears, apathy, anger and suicidal thoughts.
Nothing makes her smile anymore.
She hates everything around her.
One of her greatest wishes was to die.
But she would take it back later.
She was sad but she would rebound.
She would be what she naturally was,
Only to end in miserable failure.
They would only hurt her.
The angel yearns for genuine community.
She wants to be happy and to be loved,
For who she truly was.
She wanted to shed her onyx feathers.
All those malcontents, she wanted to wish away permanently.
The angel with black wings waits again.
She remains hopeful, knowing she will be repaid.
