The Battle Poem by Joan Hart

The Battle

Rating: 5.0

You’ve awoken
A monster
Inside of
Me
It’s dangerous
And wild
And so
Hungry
It fills me like a fever
A fire
A heat
It’s clawing at my skin
It wants to be
Free

I fight it back
But I want to give
In
I’m growing tired
Me weak defense
Thin
It wants to take over
Let the explosion
Begin
A delicious chaos
An indulgent
Sin

My mind screams in protest,
My heart shakes with
Fear
But the monster is hungry,
There’s no mercy
Here
The three are at battle,
A fight deep to my
Core
I stand on the sidelines
Who do I root
For?
