The Best Conversation Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

The Best Conversation

He said,
"You are all
That I have."

I shook my head,
"You're wrong.
I'm still here though."

He said,
"You are all
That I have."

I stayed silent.
He is stubborn.
He is delusional.

He repeated,
"You are all
That I have."

I saw him cry.
The world scarred him.
His heart is frayed.

Still he said,
"You are all
That I have."

I replied,
"If that be the case,
You'll always have me."

He stayed silent.
I stayed silent.
It was the best conversation.
