The Bird's Song Poem by Rajendra padhi

The Bird's Song

THE BIRD’S SONG

You are unmasked like flowers
Sway in joy in my wistful songs,
Silently grows as sun in thoughts
Wake up to life of inward look,
Strange are the ways of world
Mirrored as lies in flowing hours,
You are broken like tides on shore
Stealthily lost in the depth of sea,
The lamp you held is put out
In the pace of wind also my nest,
Empty is our soul without songs,
When my songs are your words
You hush into love never to end,
In surprise you find me in hills
Naked like light I reach to you,
Its fastness beats the flow of time
Traverse your wishes of eternity,
I am little but understand me best
Listen to me as a singer till I depart
Not bound to your world of fame,
I fear life is but a frisky horse
I am afraid days have sunsets,
So little is my beak, so little I eat
So little I sleep, so little is my nest,
I sing of the hilltop also the waterfall
I see the root of a huge tree in soil
This surrenders to whisper of flood,
I take to my duty till the setting sun
Though uncertain of a song at Night.
