The Breaking Poem by June Gray

The Breaking

limbs creaking down
back thudding on the frame
head folding in
hand clapped on my mouth

a muffled sob,
fallen tears
breath heaving
no one can hear

my body is tight
stretched plastic over me
my chest is breaking open
sliding down to the ground
rocking back and forth
i'm all alone now

i want my person
i want them now
or anyone, someone
someone who loves me
please
somehow?

i know she loves me
i know she does
it keeps me grounded
thank you, my love

breath in and out
up off the ground
hugs myself tight
dries my eyes

i'm okay.
i'm okay now.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is a poem about what it feels like to sob- then realize that you are not alone. Quite simple on paper, hard in real life.
