The Celestial Choir Poem by John Stetson

The Celestial Choir

The Celestial Choir
for Stuart Burns

The celestial choir swelled in 2020,
I could name some names but you all know them well
Each one echoes in the hollow of your heart, falling through the open part
Where a hole has opened up that marks the moment that they fell

In a year that tried the souls of those who lived it
There was precious counting done by those who know it isn't done
While some left hold their breath, some remind us it's by death
We're reminded to breathe life, into each trip round the sun

So close your eyes and not your minds
And dream of lives where each one finds
A resting place to lie down in the sun

Warmed by the love shone from above
Which ev'ry person's known through love
Earned by the running when your race is done

Warmed by the love shone from above
Which ev'ry person's known through love
Earned by the running when your race is done
