The Cell Poem by michael mspoet

The Cell

Lock me up and hide the key
Toss me crumbs beneath the door
Take away my dignity
All the hopes I'm living for

I was branded from my youth
Nothing short of morning trash
Life will never breathe the truth
Time will never bring it back

In this cell I spend my time
Casting shadows on the wall
Painting memory out of rhyme
Another victim from the fall

I write my feelings in the sky
But the birds will never sing
The feelings fly away so high
Until they never mean a thing

I can't repay the price, so true
For what I'm wishing from a cell
Upon a star that fades from view
And coins I've tossed into a well
