The Cruise Poem by Peter Gumbo

The Cruise

Rating: 3.7

Let us take a cruise in the wide and long stretched amazon.
Let us board the ship called us,
and sail in the waters of our relationship,
to discover the mysteries it holds:

The cataracts of quarrells,
that paveway to the waterfall of misunderstanding,
and often lead us to the whirrlpool of fights.
The rapids of heart breaks and aches,
that characterise the rugged course of our cruise

Let us be shadowed by the gorge of love,
amid the pouring light of happiness,
cast from above.
May we open the nets of trust,
and cast them into the waters curiosity,
to try and fish for the eels of leisure and pleasure.
And eventhough we might find the piranhas of disagreements,
let us sort ut this catch with patience and patch back our net.

Let us venture deep,
into the thickets and rainforests of mistrusts,
and get fully absorbed,
deep within the darkness of disbelief and pain.
but let us always look for that piercing ray through the canopy,
to illuminate our dark course.

Let us meander in the course of separation,
and rejuvinate in the course of reconciliation.

Let us pour out the silts and sands of frustration and anguish,
in the embarkments of the past,
and look forward to the deltas of the future.
Finally let us open to the mouth,
that bonds us forever,
and settle in the sea of marriage.
