The Cry Of The Dark Ocean Poem by PROMISE ITA OKPOHOUDEME

The Cry Of The Dark Ocean

'The cry of a brother, echoes in the heart
The cry of a vulture, echoes in Valhalla'
Oh, Africa set up good candles
These darkness has taken your lights.

The oil bleeds black upon the broken shore
As dynamic pockets swallow up the poor
The concrete rules are built on heavy lies
Like few astronaut on paper kites.

As the flags lowered to shroud a silent head
So, is a wealthy Ocean counting out its dead
A Continent as gambling odds
Like the leaders in failing oaths.

Do not pray! Yes,
Do not blink,
The weeping eyes,
For refusing to think.

Like in every brambles
As in every coffins

But, which Palm's homely in devilish bet!
As you pool in daily fixed odds, do not forget

Like your green eagle on wayward wings
Will it still be green across the fence!

You've fixed Rehoboams on your steering
Nabals are your headlights
Absalom is your vehicle's engine!
They're like Saul; refusing as David's
Wandering Lucifers; designing you an eternal night.

Oh, you Black sheep across the Atlantic
Never, can you be a dove in a strange heart
Where's peace in a snow piercer!
Don't run a lion and leave our forest for boas.

Kiss your skin and wife eternal glory
Else, you'll contract STDs from harlotry.

Oh, dark, comely, infallible breast
Though your virginity's roughly undress
Rise, dress, clean up your tears
Wounds are not healed with weeping eyes.
