The Dancer

From the shadows
on the side-lines,
he watched her dance -
the rhythmic waves of her full white skirt
rose and fell,
whipping against her thighs
like wild seas pounding the cliffs.
Breathless with suppressed passion,
he strove to master his pounding heart
as waves of desire threatened to overwhelm him.
He turned away,
but the image still danced inside his mind
and fuelled his obsession…
