The Deity's Prayer Poem by Mary Champion

The Deity's Prayer

The C of E is considering the use of gender neutral terminology for God. I thought I would assist them by bringing the Deity's prayer up to date:
*********************************************************

Our Parent whose whereabouts are uncertain
hallowed be thy name;
(whatever it is)
thy monarch-dom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in your dreams.
Give us this day our daily bread.
(since most of us can no longer afford to buy it)
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
(Given our vindictive tendencies that shouldn't be too onerous)
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from capitalist exploitation.
For thine is the monarch-dom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
A-people.
