'The Disconnect Between Us' Poem by Aroon George

'The Disconnect Between Us'

Rating: 5.0

I am a child, and you are an elder,
But you are not like an angel.

I am foolish, and you are intelligent,
But you quarrel every time.

I am blind, and you have eyes,
But you don't see the beauty of the world.

I am dumb, and you have a tongue,
But you don't speak good words.

I am deaf, and you have ears,
But you want to hear the mistakes of others.

I am helpless, and you have hands,
But you use machines for work.

I am lame, and you have legs,
But you don't go out of your room.

I am a heart patient, and you are healthy,
But your heart is hard.

I am poor, and you are rich,
But you are like a poor man.

I am an infidel, and you are a believer,
But you don't have love.

I am alone, and you live in a crowd,
But why do you feel lonely?

I am blind, and you have eyes,
But you have no dreams.

I am ignorant, and you are a scholar,
But your words are meaningless.

I am a loser, and you are a winner,
But you are not happy.

I am an enemy, and you are a friend,
But why do you want to kill me?

I am a poet, and you read me,
But you don't know me.
