The Divine Void Poem by Avik DattaGupta

The Divine Void

Perhaps you live no more-
Living your life in sparks,
Momentarily, before fading away again,
Within our beliefs and imaginations.
As the void echoes deep,
We wonder, why?
Ask, how?
And look for answers,
That none would ever give!

Wisdom now seems hilarious,
Memories are packed away,
Facts were just facts!
Our discoveries were merely an act-
Nothing special beyond novelty,
Our new version of absurdity!
As we suffer from pains to gain,
Anxieties always remain,
As we search for peace,
In a few drops of rain,
With the hope if fell from an empty heaven.

Promiscuity screams of momentary pleasures,
Profanity amuses our feelings beyond measure,
While another life is born
And another one dies!
As we live our lives,
Decorated by lies!

Prodigal parties are in bloom every night,
Where folly minded fools come-
And fade out of sight!
Photographs, videos and a million selfies,
Moments of vanity captured as false realities.
Realities scream aloud in our dreams
As illusions keep us awake on those smart screens!

As we live another day without you,
You no longer remain, gets proven to be true!
And you really don't care and neither do we,
As we revel in madness, as you can see.
As we plan and prod in our deep silence
Oscillating between cruelty and strange benevolence!
You will start guessing and might feel stress
How we change our masks along with our dress!
And wonder who I am?
As you see your creations enjoys their living scam!
Who now cares for morals, heavenly goodness and truth?
Who cares for love? Or if someone is good?
If one is feared, they are geared-
To go ahead and rule,
and fill the empty spaces in the hearts of some fools.

Our defined divinity is now lucid silence
As we remove all voids with creative presence,
Another story with a new narrative will settle on the brow
A pill to be swallowed without the why's and how's!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this as I rummaged through some old pages of my life so far, soon to realize that I was no different from all of you! The only difference is that somehowI managed to lift the curtain on the stage
