In the beginning, when You poured upon me
The rain of mad, impossible hues,
The secret blazed forth—
Love is no mere spectacle;
It is the soul's molten fire,
Forged in the timeless crucible,
Transmuting all to pure, radiant light.
O Insightful One, why call me mad?
Did You not long to unveil
The mystery of Your Absolute Beauty?
You, the mirror of the Whole—
Have You ever gazed,
Lost in the infinite wonder of Yourself?
The flames that endlessly burn within me—
I know it is Your decree
That, in this dance of existence,
I be a moth circling
Your sacred, unfathomable flame.
And in this gathering of love,
Though all may love another,
In truth, all revolve
Around one center—
The very particles of Your Being.
Majnun's heart is a curious cosmos—
Where Layla's Kaaba stands,
And the shrine of idols;
Opposite yet inseparable,
Faces of the One Reality.
In the tavern of love,
Every step is a bow of devotion;
Yet I carve not
My God from every stone—
For that Point of Light within me
Was naked, radiant, eternal, from the start.
At times, the river stirs in restlessness,
At times, the desert breathes in silence—
All Your divine reflections.
Look into my eyes—
Can You not see Your own image?
Hear the cosmic song echoing within me?
Each time Your Name is spoken,
That song lingers upon my lips:
"You are my purpose,
You are my destination"—
As if the universe itself
Whispers one word,
And that word is You.
That primordial light
You placed within my heart
Still burns, incandescent, within my chest,
A lamp of love that knows no dusk;
Not just light alone—
But the true essence
Of my being.
