The Fading Light Poem by Lilith Van'Nightinveil

The Fading Light

In shadows deep, where loneliness does dwell,
She walks a path where doubts begin to grow,
A soul adrift in thoughts she cannot quell,
In solitude, where tears of sorrow flow.

Her heart, once vibrant, now a fragile thing,
Afraid to burden those she holds so dear,
Withdraws from friends, afraid that she might cling,
To their affection, yet consumed by fear.

Depression's grip, like tendrils in the night,
Reaches out with its relentless hold,
A haunting specter, cloaked in endless blight,
Leaves her feeling empty, bleak, and cold.

Alone she drifts, a vessel on life's sea,
Lost in the depths of her own despair,
No beacon shines to set her spirit free,
No hand extends to show that someone's there.

And as the days pass by in silent dread,
She wonders if she'll ever feel alive,
With numbness growing where her heart once bled,
In solitude, she learns to just survive.

No happy end to ease her weary soul,
No gentle comfort in the darkened night,
Just echoes of a world that takes its toll,
Leaving her to wander out of sight.

Yet in the quiet corners of her mind,
A yearning whispers softly, barely heard,
For love and solace she may never find,
Lost in the echoes of a silent word.
