The Farmer Poem by Joy Powell

The Farmer

Rating: 5.0

The sun which shined
brightly most of the day
slowly disappeared...
behind the meadow..
leaving a rainbow of
scattered colors..
in the sky..

The smell of the fields
still lingered....
the faithful hum of a john
deer... was replaced by
silence.....
gladly welcomed by
the dust covered farmer...

The warm water a
comfort...as he washed
the earth from his weathered
body...
rest...an unlikely
venture.... was greatly
appreciated
the silence of the nite..
a lullaby....
