Early spring rains have overwhelmed the fields
Barren grounds—still frozen—have become
Shallow seas in my imagination
The sunset, with its myriad hues
Of pastel blues and pinks and reds
Flows and spirals
With the complex chaos of fractals
Perfectly reflected in the black, still water
Like Alice, I have entered a topsy-turvy world
The frozen earth has become water
The water has become the sky
The sky has become a vast ocean
Quenching the variegated fires of the sun
