The Fight Never Ends Poem by Teasia Ruffin

The Fight Never Ends

Surrounded by darkness at every light
Only to find regrets and bleeding wounds
Watch the hand as it slowly fades beneath the scars
Drawn in by lifeless disgruntled cries
Anger at the soul causes reckless self harm
Seeking and asking help led to pointless verbal abuse
Shattered glass and broken dreams
Rephrase our lives from the unloved suicidal graves
Voices of the mental illness persuades self destruction
Slice open the skin to decrease the intramural pain
Sleepness nights disturbs the reason needed to awaken
Forgetting the reason to live another tortured day
Pain overflows needed functioning to keep the heart beating
Another sunrise reminding the body to break and shrink
Blood splatters the floor reminding the heart of life
Swallow the scared, battered and torn bodies whole
Watch as the monster inside feast on unworthy lives
