The First Snow Of Yesterday Poem by Minnie Gehrig

The First Snow Of Yesterday

alone by the window ledge
i sit
watching the myraid of white
fall from a dark sky
sinking into the blue again,
wanting to lie against the pure white of
crystaline blankets,
wanting to see my red hair fanned out against
the blank canvas,
and pour myself into it quiet and still
as a corpse
under the neon crosses of streetlights,

my mind takes pictures of this,
immortalizes itself
into the freeze
becomes the ice queen

i give myself death,
allowing myself quiet and simple reflection
of frosted window panes
and breath out the last ciggarette
while smoke rings encircle
the memories of a dying girl,
and solstice comes
on the wings of a northerly wind
to collect last years soul
so I begin again..............
