The Fool On A Pill Poem by Sheldon Carruthers

The Fool On A Pill

Oh foolish heart of mine what fait awaits unkind
Am I resigned to failure or am I simply blind
The truth is shackled and then ignored
A love so peppered with hate and full of flaws
No creative energy have I left of that I am bereft
Too soon or it would have been a boon
The moon is bright in suns reflection even though I lack direction
A pleasant history or a future that is a mystery
How to find solace for the soul even when one has no goal
A perplexing thought though it be am I a ghost or simply free
I waver in my thoughts and all my efforts come to nought
A wretch such as me cannot exist in polite society
So what shall I be, so what shall I be
