The Fool's Fall Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

The Fool's Fall

At loss for words, I can’t explain
the depths of glittery desires
block all sense.
Yet to be who I will be
what the hell
to breathe, all you need
is a single mistake.

It’s a cage within paradise
a cry beneath thick ice
I frown and die.
Such a thought provokes
swift submission,
an unwanted pat in the back.

Eating my words
they taste well with shame
but life’s a pie.
It’s all simple fuss
trying to cut loose from a tree
when it held you tight
from the fool’s fall.
