The Forest Poem by Karl Newton

The Forest

Walking on through the forest
The only one I've ever known
The road less travelled
Dark and destructive
I'm sad and alone

I've travelled this way for many a year
It's made me shed many a tear
If having self-pity was a job
I'd of had a career.

Eventually I stumbled in the dark
Across a turning in the path
A chance to head in a new direction
Which had some light shining through
It was not long until my curiosity grew

I took the new path
And embraced all it brought
And then suddenly a thought
Why did I take the old path
In the first place?

This path is smooth and peaceful
My soul is happy
With every step I take
My way gets brighter
And the burden of my life's load
Becomes a lot more lighter
