The Forked Tongue Of A Clownfish Poem by Jacob Underwood

The Forked Tongue Of A Clownfish

My eyes glaze over why aren't you here?
I wish for you but you never blow through
Like a meadowlark with nail stapled into its wings too
You lie on your hands a foul bristled spear
My bleeding too far gone leaving in my eyes a steer

Your intent so obviously white and clear
You continue to stab nails in me yet your never true
Steaming my frozen heart into a rue
I'm only here for your charity and cheer
Only here to make you feel better about yourself Dulcet to the ear

I'll simply lay and rot in green rags so sheer
And rugs on the walls ripped and strew
As I slumber into your funhouse of new
Wishing in dreams of a snarling clownish sneer
Almost like you so close yet no where near

The rolls of your tongue slipping out in about a year
So long that it take days to just for a few words to spew
So many fatty rolls on that tongue of yours if only you knew
Grinding away at my body while I sleep like a giant rusted gear
Leaving my body sullen to slowly sear
