The Freeway Of Fright Poem by Carole Moran

The Freeway Of Fright

Driving the freeway at night,
In Las Vegas, the city of light,
(From grey, cloudy skies overhead,
At intervals lightning is shed):
Suddenly I'm seized with fear,
And the feeling that crisis is near.

Headlights of autos I see
Have a sparkly look to me,
(And I wonder if they look the same
As electrical sparks in my brain):
Defying description of speech,
The lights of Las Vegas out reach.

Driving me, fear with its vise,
Is turning my heart to ice
(The cold overpowers the heat
Of the dark Vegas night and the street):
Facing the night and the light,
I drive on the freeway of fright.
