The Garden Poem by Charl JF Cilliers

The Garden

Rating: 5.0

Who has any knowledge of this place?
came the question from the humming bird
as she aimlessly flew across the space
for which as yet there was no word.

Even the creatures who were living there
saw it merely as happenstance,
having nothing with which to compare
their ordinary everyday experience.

Then as the first signs of darkness came,
from somewhere the voice of Adam cried:
Things here will never again be the same!

After the word for what had died,
paradise suddenly had a name.
