The Hardest Part... Poem by KUNAL SETH

The Hardest Part...

Take a moment to analyze
Love has taken more from you
Than you can ever realize
Yet you decide to tread the path cautioned?
Neither for adventure nor the intensity
What are you holding onto?
An unreal illusion best hidden behind the sun
Your hands are burnt beyond recognition
Beyond recovery, beyond care
Yet you pray with folded hands
With devotion so pure only god can stand

Restlessness alerts your mind
Pain from the last heartbreak makes everything still
What are these eyes finding now?
The trails have been long washed and lost in the haze
The blanket is not anymore warm
Chimes that mock your solitude are swaying with painful charm
They are knocking themselves mad and you want to follow their way
Wake up! The reveries are not under the pillow
You look for them but the rooms have changed their willows
It’s the same city, same spring that appeal
The flowers of winters have chosen to bleed

The velvet sea kissing your feet
Your dress looking its breezy best
Sand grains clinging to your feet’s hope
They want to move on to places unknown
Like the fragments of that picture you carry under your skin
Breaking and becoming the colors of the sky
Tonight the full moon chooses to stray
You want to step in and catch him again
Bring him back into the same dream where you last saw that smile
Like an anchor holding the boat’s arm that chooses to drift with the waves
Let it go ashes never stay
The more you hold them, the more they want to slip away.

-If I keep going right will I reach where I started……
