The lovers of the heart always hear love's music,
When the sweet song's echo awakens the soul.
Ask not what ecstasy overcomes Qais (Majnoon) ,
When Laila, lost in longing, sings from her palanquin.
The secret of the Divine begins to unveil to Qais,
As the unseen call descends into his heart.
He cries: "Laila summons me to the bridal chamber of union,
Love conceals me in the tent of divine matrimony."
The silent dervish who seems quiet in the gathering—
The music of love plays within his heart resonating.
In his gaze the light of a thousand worlds burns,
In his silence the voice of the Divine resounds.
Shun not the company of those ragged, humble mystics,
Within whom the lamp of love forever burns.
Beneath their cloak of poverty the Beloved dwells,
In their sighs, the hidden lamp of the Divine ignites.
They sit in dust yet inherit the heavens,
In their hearts echoes the cry "I am the Truth" (Ana'l-Haqq) .
They drink the pure wine of the Covenant ('Alast') ,
In their gatherings resounds the call "Yes, we testify" (Qalu Bala) .
Love is their path, devotion their creed,
Divine knowledge their destination, Truth their quest.
When they lose themselves in the vision of Eternal Beauty,
The veils lift, and the dawn of the Beloved's splendor breaks.
He who turns to ashes upon the path of love,
Finds the elixir of life, discovering true existence.
He who shatters the chains of the ego's tyranny,
Enters the kingdom of Ultimate Reality.
O seeker! Listen, understand this ancient call,
It is love's message, the eternal Divine song.
Tune your heart to this everlasting symphony,
For in it lies salvation, in it, eternal bliss.
