The Killer Poem by Anuradha Bhattacharyya

The Killer

Deflecting killer asteroids
Away from earth
Is a learned tactic
And of no use today
As the rock that has hit us
Is a microscopic life
That multiplies
When it breaks.

From almost one to ten thousand meter
In diameter,
Meteors have hit the earth every year
And so have many microbes
That we have defeated or endeared
But this one strikes us with a vengeance
Equal to man's fight for territory with man
And that's where we feel helpless.

Deflecting killer asteroids
Away from earth
Is a learned tactic
And of no use here…
Deflecting the wrath
Of man for man is
Way too difficult a trick
To learn.
