The Last Kiss Poem by Bireswar Halder

The Last Kiss

The final lap of the journey is over, many a hope, many a desire
Some fulfilled and some are not, but the journey is over
We both started our long journey smilingly, together
Many a tribulation we faced, many we overcame jointly, and now?

I didn't anticipate that one day you'll outrun me, leave me
Suddenly our hands are detached from each other
I try to join hands, holding tight, but your hands give in,
What a mystery of life; why this break in the cadence of poetical metre?

You were my beacon, a torch bearer in the darkened nights
Without you it's uphill to move further, Oh my darling
Today you are cold and silent, that you would be after our tiffs
Please try to keep aside your vanity and speak to me once more.

Memories of our long life roll out one after another
All coated in anguished tears; I am guideless, my pain none knows
It's nothing but a breach of contract you made long before.
I cannot forget you, my dear, as you are always in my heart.

I still remember how our first journey began with decorated flowers
Today it's unbearable as flowers and garlands heap on your body
Let me hug you once more with a broken heart and tearful eyes
And let me have a last kiss before goodbye, Oh my darling.
