The Leaf Poem by Jaime Montanez Salcedo

The Leaf

There, the light of dawn lightens blossomy tree,
And the many a leaf with velvety swish
Cheers the passing breeze, wandering carefree,
Which grants to each leaf a whispering wish.
The coloring of flowers is their plea,
Wit assortment of colors to garnish
In the ceaseless wonder they want to be
A would be display of vision lavish.
Seeming the golden sun, the pale primrose,
The deeper crimson of the hollyhock,
And scarlet poppy, the leaf wants to expose,
As with stunning plumage does the peacock.
And so, a tapestry of hues to delight
Aloft within splendor of the sunlight.
