The Life Of A Wife Poem by Anna C Croft

The Life Of A Wife

It was just a dinner date
That ended in a horrible rape.

No-one heard her kick or scream
No-one knows how she feels.

No-one cares that's the thing
When rape is within a wedding ring.

It's one of those things, a part of life
When you're someone's woman, someone's wife.

She'll make the meals, iron the shirts
Even though she feels like a piece of dirt.

Hide the tears from all the kids
Do as he wishes, do as he bids.

All the time she seethes inside
All the time she tells her friends lies.

She's at the point when she feels it okay.
A spell in jail, to take that man out of play.
