The Lighthouse! Poem by Joe Sadeghloo

The Lighthouse!

There was this lake,
Don't know where
How big or small
I just could see dunes and hills surrounding it

There was a house on the top of the most elevated hill
facing the lake
It was cold and raining...
High winds rushing the waves to the shore

The pier connecting the land to the lake was broken
and it was floating in the water...

It was getting dark...
From a distance, through a window
I was looking at the house on the top of the most elevated hill
Not sure where I was
on land or on a boat?

No lights were coming from the house
Its beacon light was there no more
Total darkness set its tent over the lake
You could still hear the disturbed waves hitting the shore!

I was still looking through a window
not sure where I was
on land or on a boat
Worried and helpless!
