The Lily And The Rose Poem by Helen Crutchett

The Lily And The Rose

My heart is sunken pebble
Straining to catch sunlight
The willow weeps
Along the riverbank of endings

My bed is freezing cold
I no longer feel the warmth of you
My eyes see sorrow all-around
The birds cease their twittering

As blossoms float to the ground
The dark night beckons in a moonless sky
The stars blink back tears when life is ebbing
Lay me beneath the magnolia tree

So I can see my beloved mountain
Plant daffodils for my head
Moss to rest my feet
On my heart a rose. ~
