The Littlest In The Bunch #2 Poem by Abby Kimball

The Littlest In The Bunch #2

I slipped on the dewed felid
Caught myself with the skin of my heel
Trembling with a vigorous appetite,
My job just a plain average steerhide,
I longed to feel the skin,
Against mine,

I couldn’t help but kill,
The littlest in the bunch,

It never was enough,
Even when the skin was so hard and tough,
I still had a longing to feel,
Human breath and I couldn’t conceal,
The permanent frown,
Matched with my eyes rundown,
That had haunted me since I was just a boy,

Against my orders still,
I couldn’t help but kill,
The newborn that reminded me such,
Of the littlest in the bunch,

An uncanny and unsatisfying lust,
Finding the smallest of the bunch,
Taking it’s last seconds,
Of it’s miserable life,
