the lonely post of the village
has been the mark of my existence.
for years it has been lighting this town
without failing the expectations of all
the villagers are already familiar
with its faithful light and hence
takes it for granted.
Tonight, there is no storm. There is
no excuse for not giving light.
The lonely post of the village
shall not give the light. It will be
very dark. The children will be
asking questions.
There is no light. And the old men
will be so angry.
But i will not mind.
I will not answer any question.
Because I am just a post
that has decided not to function
anymore.
The refusal is final.
They will condemn this post.
They will remove it
and take it away from the village &
drag it to the nearby
river.
A new one shall be put
in place.
And then i will be very happy.
The last laugh shall be mine.
I have long yearned for the light
of my moon
in that distant river.
