The Lost Pages Poem by SABREEN AHMED

The Lost Pages

There are no more
Roses in the Mughal Gardens,
Nor any trains at Mughal Sarai,
Shahjahan is dead.
Will Taj Mahal fade?
In a pale moonlit night
Akbar' s ghost shall haunt no more
The forts at Fatehpur Sikri,
How long will the muzzein 's call will be heard from the Jama Masjid?
The red marble stones of Old Delhi shall be painted black to sing the dirge of a buried Empire
lost in the pages
Of rewritten history..
