The Lover's Tale Poem by Sanjib Saha

The Lover's Tale

The Lover's Tale

The story cannot be told in words.
For his eyes do not sparkle
Like stars in the darkness.

He may be a dream, or perhaps not.
For dreams, or nightmares,
Spread their wings like swans,
Defying the darkness,
And walk on in the lover's tale.

In the desire to make him rhythmic, Love is cradled,
And says, : 'My death does not occur, only my birth.
The lover is an unsatisfied,
Naked soul,
Surrounded by countless circles, Existential crises.
He wants to head
Towards the horizon --
But the dust of life blows away,
And the village path floats away
In endless wonder! '

As I try to grasp that wonder,
I see lips descending
Into the scorching courtyard,
The night's fragrance wafts away,
Wafts away endlessly,
Calling out in the heart's cavern,
In the peaceful ocean,
The future's joy lies submerged.
Who will claim it,
tie it to their door,
In the promise of new birth?

I know it will rise,
Will rise like an isolated island.
Catch it, hold it to the high minaret Of your snowy breast!
