The Missionaries Covenant
Sent with hope
A poem inspired by the word of hope
This is the Christ covenant
Life, love, the missionaries Covenant
A missionary is a soul of purpose,
sent by faithful hearts and guiding hands,
crossing borders, oceans, forests,
mountains and valleys,
to carry light into every land.
They come to share the ancient truth,
to speak of peace, to teach of grace,
to plant a seed in open soil,
and help a weary people find their place.
Yet hands must labour as voices rise
for hope is built, not only told.
They build the school, they dig the well,
they comfort hunger, sickness, cold.
Sent with Hope
A messenger of hope
Sent by faithful hands
To target distant foreign lands
For light is more than revelation;
it is education, skill, and care.
Light builds bridges, opens futures,
and guides all hearts through darkened air.
And darkness shall vanish
when even a single spark is ignited.
Across the sea or down the street,
their footsteps echo heaven's call.
A life of service, bound to roam,
yet making every place a home for all.
A missionary lives and dies
within the land they come to serve
they dine and laugh, they weep and heal,
they celebrate and share the curve
of human joy and human pain.
A new addition to the community,
as a child is welcomed into a family.
For mission is not merely preaching
it is living, loving, lifting lives.
It is the daily walk of kindness,
the quiet work that hope revives.
And so they go, with hearts aflame,
to every corner of the earth
to prove that service is a language,
and every life has priceless worth.
A soul dispatched by sacred grace,
To bring relief to every face.
They go to share the ancient word,
To make the gospel message heard,
This is the Christ covenant
Life, love, the missionaries Covenant
